Health Wealth & Happiness
Today I finally signed up at Kiva and made my first contribution. Kiva is a nonprofit that delivers person to person microloans. And today I contributed to a loan for a lady named Sok, a 24 years old who sells groceries and vegetables from her home in Cambodia.
I first heard about Kiva two years ago while watching Frontline at 2:30am sick with pneumonia. At the time I was intrigued but more concerned about my general welfare. Which is probably why I was feeling so poorly.
Today I was giving thanks for all the abundance that came into our lives through the million dollar experiment and realized it was time to give some of that back. And the cool thing with Kiva is that you can give back the same donation again and again. See, its a loan so as soon as it gets paid back you can loan it to another entrepreneur.
Another reason I decided to give is something my dad taught me. He said the best way to get what you’re looking for is to give it to someone else. I’m looking for new opportunities right now so I thought I’d go ahead and help someone else with a life changing opportunity. And boy does it feel good. I’m happy Sok is also benefiting from my good fortune.
