My Ideal Lifestyle

What would you do if there was no way to fail? If you were 10 times smarter than the rest of the world? These are the question asked in the book “The Four Hour Work Week” to help you formulate your own dreamline.

Dreamlining applies a time line to what most would consider dreams. It’s like goal setting but it actually shifts you from ambiguous wants to defined steps. It focuses on activities that will fill the vacuum once you remove the day job (because that’s not part of my ideal life).

To start dreamlining, I create two timelines (6 months & 12 months) and list 5 things I dream of having, being, and doing in that order.

Having

  1. A home base somewhere close to the French Alps.
  2. A sailboat.
  3. My own jet.
  4. A Swiss passport.
  5. And a well padded Swiss bank account.

Being

  1. A best selling writer
  2. An international ambassador
  3. A role model for young girls and women
  4. Fluent in French, Spanish and Italian
  5. A famous chef

Doing

  1. Traveling the world first class, visiting amazing places like in the photo above.
  2. Practicing yoga and meditation daily.
  3. Writing best selling novels and promoting them on Oprah.
  4. Giving speeches and presentation across the world.
  5. Spending more quality time with family & friends.

The next steps are to calculate a single days cost of my ideal life and outline it all in a spreadsheet which you can find on the Four Hour Work Week website along with a complete explanation of this process.

In truth, all of my dreams are all well within reach. I’m pleased a friend pointed me in the direction of this book. I just started reading it and already its shifted my way of thinking. Thanks Aaron!
