Going Outside Your Comfort Zone

Next weekend I’m running a half marathon. To train for this, I run daily doing my normal 5 - 6 miles, never really exceeding my comfort zone. Just yesterday I ran a couple miles further and my body quickly pointed out to me, “Hey sister, something aint right here…hello!”

My life motto has always been “No Fear”. I had the sticker plastered on my car window while I cruised from coast to coast, twice. Then I put it on my suitcase and flew across the planet. Now I’m a little settled in my ways and quite enjoy our daily routines.

Perhaps my fear threshold has increased over time so it doesn’t feel like I’m pushing myself. Or perhaps I simply haven’t been daring enough lately. Unfortunately its most likely the latter out of the two. Somewhere along the line I quit taking such bold risks settling for a simpler life instead.

This week I’m going to try something new every day. Something that pushes me beyond my comfort zone. Something to prove to me that life should be lived with no fear. And come next Sunday this time, that half marathon will be just the right icing on the cake.
